Finally, Wordcamp Philippines 2008!

24 Jul 2008

To say the least, this time it won’t be the usual promo event for bloggers that this event will be covering. Well yeah, it will entirely promote the platform but the W is what I’m all out for. Yes, the W of Wordpress and everything within that word will be the center of the whole summit. It is a summit, right? Oh, am I being coherent and articulate with what I was typing? (*Neil, try harder)

Hiyes, Wordcamp Philippines 2008 is all about Wordpress, the all-around kitchen cleaner and dishwashing detergent for blogging, non-blogging, and both. Perhaps you might have gotten the idea already by just reading the name of this event right?  Oh c’mon, what’s with the unnecessary content you’re putting in here. Hello, my self-gratifying ego. I’m just trying my best to make this post as unique as possible. Well another hello, my other self-gratifying ego, even if you made this post as unique as possible, other people won’t even care. I’m sorry, am I supposed to type whatever it is in my mind right now? Right now? You’ve just typed it. Wrong synch of ideas, my baby. Yeah right. Shut up. I’m talking about our lovely Wordcamp right now, bitch.

Anyway, while my self ego is still making its way on controlling my hands over the keyboard, I would like to stress out my reasons why I want to attend this once in a lifetime event

.

..

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCKKK!!!!!!!!!! TEH ROYAL HIGHNESS KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS MATT MULLENWEG IS IN THE HOUSE! FOR WORDCAMP PHILIPPINES 2008!
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!

Omigad. I’m so excited about this summit because Matt will be there for the WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!! MATT WILL BE THERE!!! And he’s gonna discuss about WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!! MATT WILL BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I so wanna shake my hands with this guy WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!!!

I’m really looking forward to attending this summit because WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!

Am I making sense? I just so freaking wanna attend to see Matt himself. In the flesh.

Of course, this WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!! Ehem. Yes, at long last, with the help of Mindanao bloggers who climbed all the way from Tawi-tawi to North Ave… wait a second. That doesn’t make sense. One more try.

Without the help of our Mindanao bloggers down there and our sponsors over there… echo… echo… echo…

This event won’t be possible.

With that, I hope I’ll be able to collect funds from my mom and make it all the way from the mountains of Cavite to DLSU-CSB!

See you there!

Make your Windows XP Look like Vista - or Mac Even

21 Jul 2008

A lot of people have landed on my site everytime they search tips on how to make their ordinary Windows XP systems look like they have successfully installed Windows Vista. I cannot blame them. Right now, my laptop has a legal copy of Windows XP Service Pack 2–only that I have tweaked some of its settings to appear more like other OS–even Mac didn’t miss the spot on my prospect what-to-do in my laptop.

Tips on making your PC look like Vista or Mac? Well, here are the things I did to my system:

  1. I installed StyleXP Male in order to accept additional, unofficial XP themes on the Internet. There are two options: Male and Female. Do NOT install the Female version. Have Male with you.
  2. I downloaded StyleXP Vista themes using torrent. Perhaps you might have thought to download every software I mentioned using torrent, right? I have provided you some of the files you need just below this post. But for the themes, you just have to look it yourself.
  3. Want to have the desktop switch? I use Deskspace.
  4. Download Vista wallpapers. There are a bunch of Vista wallpapers uploaded by some of our kind netizens out there who can provide you high resolution wallpapers.

And that’s pretty much of the Vista department!

But how much would you want to make your PC look like Mac?

Here are the methods that you can choose:

  1. You may use StyleXP Male again and choose the Panther theme. If you want other Mac themes, just Google it and you may find one. Milky is my personal fave.
  2. You can use FlyaKiteOSX. Just double click it, and install. Is that easy? But of course, you have to make sure you have create backups of your documents. This method may change your system files so beware. Luckily as of this date, my PC hasn’t screwed up.
  3. Install RocketDock. Need to explain further? Of course, you need that dock on your desktop, and RocketDock is the best Mac Dock simulator compatible to Windows XP or even Vista.

That’s it! Hope you find this article very useful in converting your PC into Vista or Mac without ruining much of your compatibility issues or anything.

Mi Desktop. I mean, Mi Laptop. Whatevurr.

03 Nov 2007

Hehehe… just inserted some links on the images so you can see clearly my desktop.>/p>

I didn’t notice it. I was tagged months ago for this desktop meme which I didn’t know was phenomenal. I mean, I’m like everybody else who didn’t like the idea of having a meme for a decent post. But this one’s different, considering that I have never done a tagged post before (as far as I can remember, oh well, my neurons ain’t really dependable these days).

For the sake of updating my blog, here’s how my desktop, I mean my laptop… I mean my laptop’s desktop looks like:

Normal Mode

Um, okay. Now you’re wondering why I have a chopsuey of a Mac interface with a Windows Vista background image on my desktop, no?

Coo-King Clowns on a QB Stove On The Spot

I didn’t like that idea in the first place.

That Monday lunchtime was unholy. For 3 straight hours right after I woke up (late as usual), I attempted to finish reading Francisco Sionil Jose’s ‘The Pretenders’ without eating or drinking anything. I guess you got the idea that I didn’t even brush my teeth or wash my (eventually pimple-eradicating) face or at least changed some of my (ugh! stinking) clothes. I didn’t lift a centimeter of my body on that motherly pink satiny king size bed while surprisingly my brother and his long-time boyband buddy (brrr) were strumming loudly our electric guitar, playing wild wild My Chemical Romance’s “I Don’t Love You” and “The Black Parade” consecutively. Phew, another run-on.

Think about it; I didn’t wake myself up in spite of that wracking high volume of our desktop speakers inside our room that morning. And the ground guitar speakers. They were there, and I was there and they know that I was there. Blah.

Anyway, I fell asleep (again) for that strenuous activity. Heck, reading a novel would be tiresome for a non-literature sleazy porcupine like me. Hours prior to my waking and forced vocabulary building, I did a portion of my narrative report for the nearing deadline on Friday (FYI, it’s already my second time to finish Sionil’s novel, with the first done during my Philippine Literature book chapter summary reporting ALONE).

Then all of a sudden, my Mom, whom I had not been in good terms for the PC usage issue, woke me up hastily with winking merciful eyes and a gentle, yet persuasively convincing tone.

Neil, ano, incoming senior and fourth year college students…”

“Grglegrlggle… eh ano ngayon?”, I mumbled

how to choose a webhost

20 Dec 2007

Choosing the perfect web hosting has been the most difficult decision website building neophytes would encounter, except for those who have connections to people who can give them discounts and freebies (like me, of course). But with the powers of search engines and keen sense of what’s-hot-and-what’s-spam, you can easily find so many choices of web sites offering web hosting in different types. But a website will just provide all the things you need in searching for the perfect website that will suit your needs and your budget.

WebHostingChoice is a directory slash search engine of available web hosting sites where you can filter out the results through monthly cost, setup fee, disk space, and bandwidth—all in a nifty quick search box.
