And here’s my reply…

Hello Dad,

Was from GMA7 and currently laying-out our newspaper.

Now we’re talking about “different points-of-view”. And absolutely we are clashing in a number of perspectives which I find relative to our experiences in life–as an ordinary student, as a student leader, and as an activist.

Arroyo ang time niya para sa aming commencement exercises because it’s her own will. Why? She’s our President, and she used to be receiving invitation letters for the attendace of their respective events. She ‘chose’ to attend. And that’s not our problem.

Why is it so ironic? The fact that our President merely coincides for her attendance in our university’s commencement rites cogged Ma. Theresa Pangilinan and the rest of our gang to exercise our freedom of expression on that very venue. And YES, we absolutely know the fact about our incumbent President, that ‘FAKE’ president as I used to note, does NOT deserve the respect from us who knows who she REALLY is,from us who are among those who know she has gradually, and obliterately reduced annual subsidies (education financial support) to all the state colleges and universities (including our very own CAVITE STATE UNIVERSITY), from us who are aware of her double-coated and overpopulated human rights violation in her regime (outstanding Ferdinand Marcos’ during his Martial Law years), and from us who know she has totally stashed and rigged votes in our most recent national election–and more.

In a narrower and wider perspective, she deserves it.

Now sino ang nambastos?

If you are going to state points about Maria Theresa Pangilinan disrespecting students and their parents who have toiled 14 years of their lifetime for their education, yes, pambabastos iyon sa kanila who have treasured that moment of concluding their school decade.

But, I, along with all of us who has this diplomatic will of courtesy, political free-will, and freedom of expression, I think Maria There Pangilinan has been responsible in her actions. Poor is our university who ironically invited this ‘incredible’, ‘illegitimate’, and ‘pretentious’ president who have submurged our economy and international status into dimwits. Nabastos ang ilang parents and graduating students, but for us, it’s better that we have sacrificed the moral aspect of that unforgettable moment of theirs than to absorb President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s pretentious speech exploiting us to be overseas filipino workers, and campaigning their ease of being employed here in the Philippines which has NEVER been true in the excess of my gluteus maximus’ subcutaneous layers.

Reality check:

yung pinag lalaban nyo . Sa inyong leader, eh sino ba yun. ????? at bakit sumusunod kayo. Bakit!?????…”

Diosdado Macapagal objects the execution of that bill to allow the 18 year-old youth possess the right to vote.

I’m not implying that you are politically downright, but face it–malaki ang kontribusyon ng kabataan dahil sila rin ay naapektuhan ng krisis sa pulitika at ekonomiya. Mabuti nga’t there are still ’student’ ‘youth’ leaders like Maria Theresa Pangilinan who outwitted and courageously unfurled that red banner exposing our disgust to Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s self-interested administration.

Mayroon kaming “K”. Typographically, may “K” ang word na “kabataan”. No, I was joking.

Bakit? Don’t we have the right to decide? Don’t we have the right to express our stand as concerned citizens of the Philippines?

Dad, we are expressing our political will, struggling to express our views and to defend our rights as citizens of this country. Dad, reality check– we are being muddled by the Arroyo’s calibrated pre-emptive tactics to forward their own political and financial interests and sacrificing the ’supposed’ benefits from the government by NOT giving it to us. Dad, we are under ‘under declared Martial Law”. Don’t you know that?

Maybe not–you are in China, I suppose ^_^.

———-

Anong solusyon ang sinasabi niyo po? Bakit?

Mula 1 peso- 1 dollar, naging times 51. But that, nagkaroon ng pagbabago kahit papaano.

Maybe you are thinking that what we are doing is just one of your ‘nonsense’ wishlist. We are not doing nonsense. At least, we are concerned to our submerging country. At kahit gaano kaliit o kalaki ang kontribusyon namin sa lipunan, alam namin sa puso’t isipan namin na we have done our very best, and we definitely know what we are doing.

Don’t presume that your expected “big” change will pop-out instantly like spamming advertisers in your web browser. Malamang taon, decada, o siglo.

Maraming bansa ang disorganized because of their own problems. Take note: BECAUSE OF THEIR OWN PROBLEMS.

———-

That was very long, indeed for a 30-minute typing.

In Mare and Pare, well, there has been a division of punto-de-vistas.

Winnie Monsod (Mare) assessed that her (Ma. Theresa) actions are out of the right place and the right time. Graduation is supposedly the most cherished and the most valuable moment for graduates and parents, and her actions are discourteous.

Atty. Orbos (Pare) assessed–though Ate Tere has sacrificed the sanctity and courtesy of CvSU’s commencement rites, he favors people who have outstandingly express their rights and their concerns to the country on-the-face of their prospect rather than absorb pretentiousness.

Done! ^_^

Ang inyong nakikipagsapalarang anak,
Neil.

GOSH! WE’LL BE ON TV!

TV screen exposure? Wow…

Yup. Tommorow, we’ll be participating in Debate with Mare and Pare…

Tomorrow is the taping. Guests are Atty. Saguisang, Francis Escudero, Patricia Evangelista (golly… my lovely Patricia Evangelista, but I don’t know her side about this issue–we’ll see tomorrow), Gov Jonvic Remulla (oh bother), Chino Trinidad, Sir Francis Escudero, that freakin’ Sec. (err) Mike Defensor (no wonder he invokes tactical barrier defenses for the president on the ‘mike’–hello? ‘defensor’ ^_^)—-and of course, our very own Maria Theresa Pangilinan (go Ate Tere!)

The topic: Ano ang mas matimbang: karapatang mag-protesta o respeto sa pangulo?, corresponding to the April 21 Grad rites hackling incident. Golly.

Ang saya-saya.

————-

My little birdie told me, Sen Manny Villar will be sponsoring a ‘feast’ for students who will be on the ‘Arroyo’s side “daw” sa school namin. Talk about pre-emptive bribery in our very own university ^_^.

————-

O great. Sec. Raul Gonzales is juggling his balls again.

Here’s Ate Tere’s press statement released this morning. Maybe Gloria Macapagal Arroyo might be cutting her cheese for the 5th time already.

National Union of Students of the Philippines
CAVITE CHAPTER
c/o BM Office: BlkF-15 Lt17 Sta. Cristina 1, DBB-C, Dasmariñas, Cavite

Mr. Raul Gonzales must review pol.sci.101

The statement of Sec. Raul Gonzalez of the Department of (in)Justice today a clear political harassment – a political repression to anyone who voices their political beliefs.

Though he said that they may file charges against us in violating the Article 153 of the Revised Penal Code and issued an order to NBI to investigate on the matter, it revealed his ignorance to the law and insulting the whole justice system and NBI as an institution.

Lawyers said that the Article 153 that Mr. Gonzalez is talking about is tried in the barangay level. Degrading the prestige of the NBI where they will investigate matters that can be resolved in the barangay.

Even the administration officials of the Cavite State University are desperate to file charges against us. We have learned that they have consulted several lawyers regarding the April 21 incident and all of them said that no charges can be filed against us. So, the university officials are only left declaring us as persona non grata and asking us to apologize.

We believe that Mr. Gonzalez must review his pol.sci.101 to understand what he is doing. He is not just putting himself to mockery by people but the whole system of government including their president Mrs. Arroyo.

The youth and the Filipino people are wishing them luck in filing the charges. We are not afraid! What we are more scared of is what the next generation if the injustice today continues.

We will not falter in calling for Mrs. Arroyo’s ouster! We are even more ready than before!

Bwahahaha!
Dakila ka, Nanay Tere! Mabuhay ka!

Ito ang column article ni Conrado de Quiros – There’s the Rub about Ma. Theresa Pangilinan

——————-

DA VINCI CODE DETRACTORS’ HYPOCRISY – UPDATED

Ok. A lot of people slash countries are anticipated slash craving slash expecting slash waiting slash excited for the upcoming worldwide movie release of The Da Vinci code. But suprisingly slash unfortunately, controversies will be doing a grandiose ‘welcome’ barricade in front of the movie’s now showing cinema entrances–with protests, ban propositions, and more ban propositions…

Last year, a couple of colleagues and I were in SM City Dasmariñas (nice reading, SM manager ^_^) for an outrageously whole-day non-stop action-packed window-shopping. Though I have money, I spent only 20 pesos for the food (shared with another classmate since she packed a lunchbox of rice), then we strolled inside the National Bookstore afterwards.

Each time I enter that gleaming red bookstore, I always find myself behind the fiction bookshelves searching for any traces of Da Vinci code left. That damned book is always out of ‘stack’ (the salesladies pronounced ^_^), leaving me quite frustrated. The next month, with only twenty pesos in my pocket I returned with the same interrogation. “Meron po, sir,” (There is, sir) they replied. Oh bother.
Whenever I have money in my wallet (na in-arbor ko sa kapatid ko ^_^), there goes the “ubos na po, sir” [We ran out (of it), sir] dialogue. But if I cashed out my monthly allowance (of course, nothing will be left after all these school projects and apartment fees) and attempt to ask the salesladies for the book, they say “Oh, we still have one, sir.” Much annoying if they instead offer me to buy the special ‘expensive’ illustrated edition usually left behind.

Da Vinci code is phenomenal, our former literary editor exclaimed after catching me reading Dan Brown’s novel which was borrowed from our culture editor which was borrowed from our associate editor which was borrowed from Katrina, an admirer of our culture editor. Image the lineup the novel took before reaching my literary pleasure. That damn “informative but prosaically imaginative” book took me 48 years before pre-emptily lending it to my Kuya who also wanted to read that book. Yes, I’m through with the book, with some satisfactions for its controversial ‘facts’ and mysteries it claims, and some har-hars to its clerical and grammatical inaccuracies.
I warned my Kuya. But even before quoting it to him, I stressed him out about its impact to his faith, though I already know he’s logically smarter than me ^_^. And we had some good discussions.

Yes, the Da Vinci Code is very controversial, and so it claims its phenomenal impact to its readers due to its enigmatic revelations about the divinity of Christ, the importance of Mary Magdalene to Him and to the Church, and the movements of the Catholic Church to suppress the disclosure of the ‘real’ scriptures for the welfare of their imperial domination. I was quite stunned after reading the book. I’ve had some ideas about Christ having a child, but to divulge Mary Magdalene as the mother and the closest to Christ and her contradicting ‘Royal’ descent, everything traditional was phased out of my head. Now I have another perception of Christ—a human, claimed as a supernatural being with his made-up holy reverence used for the Catholic’s political interest, a Royal family member, a preacher, a lover, a ‘lover’, and now, a father. There were even Holy organizations protecting Mary Magdalene and her ‘daughter’ and the real ‘truth’ about her establishment of the Church, and the unearthly destructive orders of the Catholic Church to persecute such facts. Yet despite of all these claimed ‘facts’, I didn’t think BAD about Jesus Christ. He still has saved millions of people through His scriptures.

In the first place, I already have some inadequacies with the religion I’m into (I’m Catholic, but I don’t want or feel like one). My too much reading, watching TV, and attending various churches urged me to become unstable with my religion, believing that it’s ‘traditional and stood as a citizen who still believes the values of our Lord’s scriptures for his everyday life. The ‘Da Vinci Code’ must have been one good factor.

Though my perception about Christ has been hashed, I think it gave me an opportunity to learn more about myself and the Catholic Church. I assess we must educate ourselves outside the four corners of our room.

Speaking of such personal platitude, we go back to the movie.

The novel’s screen version will be showing on May 6, synchronized with its worldwide release. Now, the movie faces suppression from different religious groups as well as non-government organizations, initiating efforts of refraining the movie’s debut in cinemas.

Not only that this movie faces such predicaments here in the country, but other Christian dominating countries as well. I’m not really particular with those countries, but as far as the religious connivance of these countries is concerned, theirs might be even worse than that of the Philippines’.

The Philippine Alliance Against Pornography Inc. (PAAP) proposed yesterday that our dear President should be a ‘real statesman’ by leading an urgent fight to stop the showing of the controversial film. Such movie claims ‘daw’ to preclude the belief about the divinity of Jesus Christ and the Christian faith, and our dear President ‘daw’ must initiate actions for the cancellation of the movie’s importation, the censorship and destruction of all Dan Brown’s books sold in bookstores nationwide, and declare Brown persona non grata in the country. He even rolled out several violations of the movie (including the book itself): the violation of Article 201 of the revised Penal Code that prohibits the showing and display of immoral doctrines, obscene publications and exhibitions, and indecent shows; Presidential Decree 1986, the law creating the MTRCB, and Republic Act 7610, the anti-child law.
Persona non grata my ass.

Go, Columbia Pictures! Don’t mind the PAAP! Don’t mind Laguardia (in case she declines)! Capitalize here in the Philippines ^_^! Spread the word of Dan Brown, and let the people be educated! In case your movie will not be shown here, we are ABSOLUTELY SURE that piracy will still overrule each and every shitted organization here who are drafting for the persecution of the movie! We will buy pirated DVDs on the bangketas of Dasmariñas, Cavite for the sake of our patronizing! Conquer the Philippines! Show these ignorant people how ignorant they are!
Just kidding myself.

I think this movie will offer viewers another perspective about Christianity and the so-called ‘reality’ behind it—how big names in history would collaborate for an effort of divulging some facts about the eons of the Church. Even some bishops would agree to me—and even injected the movie would even help Filipinos to have stronger faith to God.

Though I say that it would greatly create an impact to its viewers, I don’t think that Filipinos would idealize bad point-of-views about Christ. For me, it would just educate us more about Jesus Christ and his so-called ‘real’ identity, and only His identity itself. Not the Christian values. If it indeed made people shift religions or other negating side effects of some sort, I shall certainly believe that 3 7 out of 10 Filipinos are not good in English ^_^.

THIS IS WHAT PIRACY CAN OFFER

Ok. Neil is a bad boy. Bad boy. Very very very bad boy.

Just downloaded a pre-release (Beta) version of Microsoft Office Professional 2007 through Azureus torrent client. Whoo-hoo…

Yes, the user interface is fabulous. The graphics are great. Added highlight item pop-ups integrated (like when you highligh a word or a phrase, a mini pop-up window will fade in near the item and prompts you to change its font, font style, and other options.

It even saves your documents in a docx file type which consumes an exaggeratingly small amount of disk space. Say for example, my summary of “The Pretenders” by Francisco Sionil Jose. Originally (i.e. its Office 2003 .doc counterpart), it consumes 70 KB. But when I copy-pasted it to Word 2007, sheesh… it was like, huh? 20 KB? It’s like being zipped or rarred or something. What more if I zipped it?
