At last, my dreadful 2nd semester’s over.
We’ve finally had news program simulation last Thursday. I was among the anchors (sheesh… talk about Mike Enriquez). Haven’t slept appropriately.
Actually, we failed Mr. Jun del Rosario to demonstrate a ‘good’ flow for the program. We’ve committed 5-second blackscreened ‘dead-airs’, camera struggling, eye-misfocusing, and word jamming. Why can’t I forget the term ‘kapuso’?
For our first attempt, we’re supposed to have singko on our finals. But del Rosario gave us another chance. Blame it to that pirated vcd player. Can’t afford to buy DVD drives or to spend for video editing. For my classmates slash friends slash tropapips, I did it all by my f*cking techy powers. Thank you myself (^_^). Thank you Azureus. Thank you Bill Gates. Thank you Ulead. I can’t use Premiere. Blame to my 512 MB RAM. Har-har, Adobe Photoshop.
Not all of us are rich. Most have their parents working with no sufficient income for their state university schooling. I feel lucky to at least have an artist/sculptor/designer Dad apparently based in China who can afford (yet sometimes can’t). Sabi ko sa sarili ko, buti na lang I know all these video editing blah-blahs used by these seemingly-amateur-film-producing-video-editors here in Cavite (naku, nagyabang^_^). I feel lucky that I could utilize myself somehow for my blockmates. Kung nagkataon, we might’ve spent thousands of pesos for the editing of the videos. Our school does not provide enough facilities be need.
We’ve noted Jun del Rosario’s quote that his former classes from other schools had good demonstrations and our first attempt was the worst ‘daw’, it was the first time he shouted ‘cut’ in the last portion of our i-Patrol (grabe, patapos na, kinut pa.) “Hindi kami mayaman para makabili ng 100 thou peso worth cams for our program, a**hole! We’ve only spent a thousand peso! Wala kaming pera!” Wish I could’ve said that in front of his face. Oh well, plasticity is the best policy. But I was not angry. I could’ve let him realize that we did our best for a whole week to improvise all the necessary facilities for our news program for just a thousand peso. We did not spend for video editing, like what he suggested. Naku, if we did that, we would have wasted our money. I’ve watched all the videos that our former batches had spent to video editing, and I nearly puked. Was that 10 thousand pesos, you said?
Thank God, he’s nice. He had given us another try. Afterwards, he announced that we’ve got a good grade. That is, if it was a good grade. We thanked him promptly.
Oh well. Next time, I’ll upload our “Istiryotayp” film on youtube.com so I can show you how novices like us did a not-so-nice movie about a newspaper boy falling in love with a seƱorita of Royal Tagaytay–the by-product of Intro to Film without a ‘matinong’ professor.
