And here’s my reply…

Hello Dad,

Was from GMA7 and currently laying-out our newspaper.

Now we’re talking about “different points-of-view”. And absolutely we are clashing in a number of perspectives which I find relative to our experiences in life–as an ordinary student, as a student leader, and as an activist.

Arroyo ang time niya para sa aming commencement exercises because it’s her own will. Why? She’s our President, and she used to be receiving invitation letters for the attendace of their respective events. She ‘chose’ to attend. And that’s not our problem.

Why is it so ironic? The fact that our President merely coincides for her attendance in our university’s commencement rites cogged Ma. Theresa Pangilinan and the rest of our gang to exercise our freedom of expression on that very venue. And YES, we absolutely know the fact about our incumbent President, that ‘FAKE’ president as I used to note, does NOT deserve the respect from us who knows who she REALLY is,from us who are among those who know she has gradually, and obliterately reduced annual subsidies (education financial support) to all the state colleges and universities (including our very own CAVITE STATE UNIVERSITY), from us who are aware of her double-coated and overpopulated human rights violation in her regime (outstanding Ferdinand Marcos’ during his Martial Law years), and from us who know she has totally stashed and rigged votes in our most recent national election–and more.

In a narrower and wider perspective, she deserves it.

Now sino ang nambastos?

If you are going to state points about Maria Theresa Pangilinan disrespecting students and their parents who have toiled 14 years of their lifetime for their education, yes, pambabastos iyon sa kanila who have treasured that moment of concluding their school decade.

But, I, along with all of us who has this diplomatic will of courtesy, political free-will, and freedom of expression, I think Maria There Pangilinan has been responsible in her actions. Poor is our university who ironically invited this ‘incredible’, ‘illegitimate’, and ‘pretentious’ president who have submurged our economy and international status into dimwits. Nabastos ang ilang parents and graduating students, but for us, it’s better that we have sacrificed the moral aspect of that unforgettable moment of theirs than to absorb President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s pretentious speech exploiting us to be overseas filipino workers, and campaigning their ease of being employed here in the Philippines which has NEVER been true in the excess of my gluteus maximus’ subcutaneous layers.

Reality check:

“…at mga studyante lamang kayo. Kung baga wala pa kayong

“K” wala pa kayong nararating na kung ano pa man na maiitulong sa bansang pinas, kayo pa ang nagsisimula . Sa anong dahilan at para kanino

yung pinag lalaban nyo . Sa inyong leader, eh sino ba yun. ????? at bakit sumusunod kayo. Bakit!?????…”

Diosdado Macapagal objects the execution of that bill to allow the 18 year-old youth possess the right to vote.

I’m not implying that you are politically downright, but face it–malaki ang kontribusyon ng kabataan dahil sila rin ay naapektuhan ng krisis sa pulitika at ekonomiya. Mabuti nga’t there are still ’student’ ‘youth’ leaders like Maria Theresa Pangilinan who outwitted and courageously unfurled that red banner exposing our disgust to Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s self-interested administration.

Mayroon kaming “K”. Typographically, may “K” ang word na “kabataan”. No, I was joking.

Bakit? Don’t we have the right to decide? Don’t we have the right to express our stand as concerned citizens of the Philippines?

Dad, we are expressing our political will, struggling to express our views and to defend our rights as citizens of this country. Dad, reality check– we are being muddled by the Arroyo’s calibrated pre-emptive tactics to forward their own political and financial interests and sacrificing the ’supposed’ benefits from the government by NOT giving it to us. Dad, we are under ‘under declared Martial Law”. Don’t you know that?

Maybe not–you are in China, I suppose ^_^.

———-

Anong solusyon ang sinasabi niyo po? Bakit?

Mula 1 peso- 1 dollar, naging times 51. But that, nagkaroon ng pagbabago kahit papaano.

Maybe you are thinking that what we are doing is just one of your ‘nonsense’ wishlist. We are not doing nonsense. At least, we are concerned to our submerging country. At kahit gaano kaliit o kalaki ang kontribusyon namin sa lipunan, alam namin sa puso’t isipan namin na we have done our very best, and we definitely know what we are doing.

Don’t presume that your expected “big” change will pop-out instantly like spamming advertisers in your web browser. Malamang taon, decada, o siglo.

Maraming bansa ang disorganized because of their own problems. Take note: BECAUSE OF THEIR OWN PROBLEMS.

———-

That was very long, indeed for a 30-minute typing.

In Mare and Pare, well, there has been a division of punto-de-vistas.

Winnie Monsod (Mare) assessed that her (Ma. Theresa) actions are out of the right place and the right time. Graduation is supposedly the most cherished and the most valuable moment for graduates and parents, and her actions are discourteous.

Atty. Orbos (Pare) assessed–though Ate Tere has sacrificed the sanctity and courtesy of CvSU’s commencement rites, he favors people who have outstandingly express their rights and their concerns to the country on-the-face of their prospect rather than absorb pretentiousness.

Done! ^_^

Ang inyong nakikipagsapalarang anak,
Neil.

Such actions I believe, is unethical(yung sa graduation). Sentiments should be placed in the right place. If I were one of the graduates, I’d be ashamed. She may have a point, but the way it was delivered was not right. There’s nothing wrong with voicing out your opinion, but there has to be objectivity and constructiveness. That’s what many Filipinos lack. Masyado tayong nagpapadala sa emotions. We’re hardly objective.

Sometimes, ang hirap sa tao, nagtatapangtapangan through words. “Tapang” has been grossly taken out of context. Sabihin natin, maraming nagrarally, bumabatikos pero mangilan-ngilan lang talaga yung gumagawa ng concrete actions to help the country.

I’d like to site the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce. They don’t go rallying on the streets, maraming “anti-Chinese sentiments” among non-Chinese Filipinos; however, despite the resentment, they still help build public schools; yung mga bumbero ng Filipino-Chinese which don’t really have a sponsor, masmabilis pa silang magrespond sa mga sunog. Many think that the Chinese-Filipinos don’t care about the country because many don’t “protest” against the government, but come to think of it, it’s very ironic how we accuse the Chinese to be ripping off our resources when they seem to be doing more for the country than the native Filipinos themselves.

The problem with many Filipinos is that there has been an overdose of ” democraziness. People forget that alongside with freedom is responsibility. How many try to obey very simple rules like “No Jaywalking”, “No Uturn”, “No Loading/Unloading”, “Bawal Magtapon ng Basura dito”, “Bawal Umihi dito”? How many citizens segregate their waste?

Look at Indonesia; in SEAsia, they top the most corrupt country(Philippines comming second), but how come they progress more than us? The percentage of Indonesians living with less than an dollar(less than US$1) a day is at 11%, ours is at 40%. Come to think of it, their population is almost 250 million? That is because the Indonesian citizens do concrete actions that would benefit their fellow citizens. Hindi sila basta-basta nagrarally na. They have learned from their past(yung mga protests nila nung fall ni Suharto at Wahid, masmadugo pa sa Pilipinas; and not to mention the anti-Chinese riots in the May 1998), while us Filipinos, we seem not to. Indonesia is a democratic nation, but they are not as demo”crazy” as us.

I’m not pro or anti Arroyo. I’ve already been somewhat apolitical now because kahit alisin mo si Arroyo at ipalit si Lacson, parehas pa rin. Most politicians have one “goal”, to take the highest seat in the Philippine Gov’t. Since lumaya ang Pilipinas, same familiar faces ang mga nasa gobyerno. Help improve the education(since we all know we cannot rely on the government on this, but as citizens of this country, we can do something about this) and awareness of our people, and things will change though at a quite slow pace. The best way is to produce sensible, patriotic, competent, and committed “younger” citizens who will someday replace the “old” rotten politicans. Mold the youth in the proper way.

It takes two to tango; the government nor the citizens alone cannot uplift the country’s state singlehandedly.

It’s not only the government’s fault why our country is at this state, as citizens we, too have huge responsibility why we are suffering. We blame the government, but do we even look at ourselves(No, I’m not vindicating the government from its faults)?

I don’t think in technical comprehensiveness, when people voice out “opinions”, people of course have their own stand. Technically it means people are “subjective” if people opinionate. Objectivites arises preceeding the execution of making opinions, if that would make sense. And it is constructive. And for those who lack your so-called objectivity and constructiveness, I think we are not one of them ^_^. And for those who have overdosed objectivity and constructiveness in their brains and consciences, no wonder how many people are being too much sunud-sunuran to this downright, politically fiascoed Arroyo’s administration.
A lot of people question that Ate Tere’s actions were outlandishly unethical. But what’s more “unethical”? Lambasting a “lambastable” speaker who speaks of pretentiousness, or to patronize a “lambastable” speaker who speaks of pretentiousness?
There IS some point that Ate Tere has indeed compromised the “solemnity” of our commencement exercises for redundant reasons like “parents and students have toiled 14 years for struggling education and yet Ate Tere and the rest of our gang just ruined their ‘solemn’ concentration”. Think again. Graduation is not as “solemn” as a church mass, a burial, or a wedding. I think we have a point there. Plus, if it is indeed a solemn ceremony, naunahan na ni PGMA na sirain ang solemnity ng graduation. It’s like a devil facing a thousand robotic angels. Good thing there were 10 plus (yes, 10 plus according to plan, but the PSG ruined it ^_^) plus some “namulat na silent majority”.
Negative reactions came out, I believe, from those (in fairness, the majority of the parents and the students) who really are not aware of PGMA’s green blood. And we can’t help it. We understand.
I don’t absorb your “context” of the word “tapang”. Oo, marami talagang nagra-rally at bumabatikos but don’t expect that everything would pop out spontaneously as you’ve wanted. Kung alam mo lang, sana maranasan mo because I’m absolutely sure you are not one of those progressive people who’ve spent their most uncomfortable days with the people bannering their rights on the streets in urban and rural areas.
Do NOT generalize those who are making “batikos” these Filipino-Chinese people as non-intellectuals. Do NOT generalize that these Filipino-Chinese people are demi-gods who project themselves philantrophists and charity workers. Yes, there are. But some reasons which you aren’t aware of, there are reasons why we should make batikos “some” Filipino-Chinese people. Note: “some”, not all.
Why ain’t they detest our government. Hello? Do you think most of these Filipino-Chinese people have problems with their livelihood? And why generalize? There are Filipino-Chinese people who do protest.
I don’t think the reason why people are not following simple rules like the ones you’ve encoded does not connive with this so-called “democraziness”. Why connect? It simply because of “differences with their orientations in life”. It’s simply because the government is not strict with their implementation of these rules—these simple rules of yours. It’s not democraziness, it’s mismanagement.
Do NOT compare Indonesia to the Philippines. Philippines is far more different from Indonesia—from head to toe. Do NOT compare Indonesia to the Philippines by simply stating that we are both democratic nations.
Yes, we are advocating OUST Gloria. But not only advocating OUST Gloria. And yes, you have a good point for orienting the people—for educating the people. But remind you, marami pang dapat pagdaanan bago makamit ang naturang progresibong pammumilitika at pananawan. How to produce sensible, patriotic, competend, and committed “younger” citizens of the country? Ask yourself. Let people ask themselves. If they wanted to be, they will be, they can be. Don’t you think it’s ironic, too?
Sana nga, makikipag-TANGO ang pamahalaan sa atin. Pero anong gusto nilan sayawin? CHA-CHA? Jesus Christ ^_^.
People does have big responsibility.

Hehehe… when he remits in unexpected amounts, my mom and I babble. ^_^ He buys lots of perks in HK, and we only receive a fraction of his. Sometimes pinapagalitan ni Mom si Dad, but most of the time she thinks twice. She doesn’t want to quarrel with Dad about money.

Niloloko ko nga Dad ko–

Dad, ako ang pinakamaputi sa aming magkakapatid. Inampon niyo po ba ako? (I’m the fairest-skinned among my siblings. Was I adopted?)

He laughed.

For your information, sir, I didn’t erase your comment. My WP database went haywire a month ago so all my posts after my Trinoma experience (including all the comments posted respective to it) are gone. Lucky that I had a backup of my posts in Word.

I still remember your comment. But after calling me ‘that’, I’m now hesitant to make a longfavorable response to it (YES, I agree with your comment, and I was too busy to respond with a one-liner statement to that). Now that I know that you’re really looking forward to an argument. (talaga bang naka-save ang URL ng post na ito after Googling it? Adik ka rin ano?)

Let me sum it up this way… I’VE GROWN UP. I’m out of the circulation because of so many things that I realized. Does this satisfy you?

And oh, mind if I erase your most recent comment? I just hate people calling me something for no good reason, or for not even asking me why. That being said, you’re a stupid b*tch as well. Aggressive ka rin ano? Lol :p

Cheers from the Philippines.
